OUR REVIEWS

On to the party!.

I guess they got to mulling a little bit as well, and so they asked me to send over about 20 examples of the kinds of photos I would put in the book if we went the photo route. At some point in our conversations I had just offered to do the darn photos myself if that would make it easier for everyone.

I never want to cause any problems, so I was really just trying to sound helpful, but nevertheless, they asked to see 20 photos to take a look at my photography and see if they could have me do the photos myself.. After our few days of pondering, I realized that these people were the experts and they probably knew what they were talking about when it came to book formats.I also realized that my book would probably actually stand up to being in just black and white because it.pretty entertaining, if I do say so myself.

So I wrote to them to tell them that I was fine to go ahead with the no photos thing, and maybe if we could just do a few sparse illustrations here and there as visual cues for flipping, that would be perfect. And then I didn’t hear from them for three weeks, so I just assumed that was what we would do..

So, I was kind of enjoying all of the quietness on the book-front and getting back into thinking about focusing all of my efforts on my blog again, kind of stressing over that crazy title, kind of stressing over whether or not they were going to make me re-write the whole book, and just not thinking about the photo issue at all.

But mostly just trying to enjoy the quiet. We always head out to cut down our own tree, decorate the tree together as a family that night, then make time for gingerbread house decorating, Christmas crafts, and watching the Santa Clause parade in there somewhere too..

Some traditions, like bundling up to go skating (or just sliding around) on the creek, or taking pictures in Santa hats are just so much better for everyone now that we’ve got Jack around to make us all laugh. But some things, like decorating the perfect tree or doing most Christmas crafts, are pretty darn near impossible.

All parents of toddlers are nodding their heads right now. We’ve never really gone out driving around to look at Christmas lights, but last year it seemed like the perfect activity one boring Friday night, mostly because little baby Jack could sleep in his car seat the whole time and we could all relax.
